Programs

By creating opportunities for playful exploration, Museum programs help children develop key foundational habits of mind and skills. Emphasizing hands-on play with objects and materials, Museum programs involving science, art, performing arts, cultures, and movement, expose children to rich new experiences that encourage creativity, curiosity, and joyful discovery.

Morningstar Access at Boston Children’s Museum offers children with special needs/medical needs the opportunity to visit the Museum at a time when there are only a few other visitors.

This summer we celebrate imagination and all its wonder. Join us to play, pretend, make believe, dream, and discover!

Whether children are designing miniature houses from cardboard, building circuits, programming robots, sculpting masterpieces, or getting to know live animals, STEAM programs foster curiosity, creativity, and learning.

Experience the Museum’s multi-sensory art programming that emphasizes self-expression and experimentation. Make collages, sculpt with clay, craft a puppet, try printmaking—the opportunities for creativity are endless.

The Museum is alive with music, dance, and theater. The Museum partners with many organizations in Boston and beyond, offering young children a gateway to observe and be a part of the right world of performance.

Practice a new yoga pose, learn about growing vegetables by exploring gar- dening, or try out your dance moves. The Museum promotes health and wellness with fun, interactive programs that encourage active play, healthy eating, and understanding our bodies.

Dialogue about differences and similarities is a critical part of building respect for self and others. Programs at the Museum that are designed to help all of us see and accept each other as unique individuals help us to reflect on our own identities and develop lifelong understandings about and empathy for people of all backgrounds.

Museum exhibits and programs engage children in activities that foster foundational ways of thinking—habits of mind—by encouraging investigation, exploration, and discovery. Habits of mind such as curiosity, creativity, persistance, critical thinking, and problem solving prepare children for future challenges and build their confidence.

Museum programs are designed to meet learners where they are and celebrate varied capabilities, interests, and backgrounds. Try it your way—follow your interests, move at your own pace, and experience your own success!
